If you have already generated the CSR and requested an SSL certificate to be issued by a trusted – Certificate Authority, move forward with the installation steps mentioned in the next section of the article.

How to Install an SSL Certificate on Palo Alto Networks?

Follow the steps mentioned below to install an SSL certificate on Palo Alto Network:

Step 1: Prepare the SSL files

Follow the steps mentioned below to prepare the SSL files:

• Unzip the .zip folder you received by the CA on your registered email id.
• Extract the .zip folder content.
• Make sure you have extracted the primary and intermediate certificates.
• Open your primary certificate in a new plain text document (say, doc1).
• Copy all the content of the primary certificate (including — BEGIN CERTIFICATE — and — END CERTIFICATE — tags)
• Paste the content of the primary certificate in a new plain text document (say, doc2).
• Copy all the content of the intermediate certificate (including — BEGIN CERTIFICATE — and — END CERTIFICATE — tags)
• Paste the content of the intermediate certificate in doc2, just below the — END CERTIFICATE — line.
• If your CA has sent more than one intermediate certificate, paste the content of that just below the — END CERTIFICATE — line.
• Save doc2 with .csr extension.

Step 2: Import the SSL Certificate

Follow the steps mentioned below to import the SSL certificate:

• Enter your credentials to login into the Palo Alto Network dashboard.
• Click on the Device tab.
• In the left pane, expand the Certificate Management option.
• Click on Certificates.
• Scroll till the end.
• Click Import.
• The Import Certificate window will appear.
• In the Import Certificate window, in the Certificate Name field, type the SSL certificate name. (Note: It should be same as CSR name)
• Click Browse.
• Locate the .csr SSL (doc2.csr) file that you created in Step 1.
• Don’t click the radio button related to the private key .
• Click OK.
